Morre o último dos “The Platters”
Um dos mais afinados conjuntos da música pop norte-americana, os “The Platters”, diluiu-se para sempre: o último dos seus componentes, Herb Reed, morreu na segunda-feira (04), em Boston, aos 83 anos.
O “The Platters”, formado originalmente em 1953 por Herb Reed, Joe Jefferson, Cornell Gunther, Alex Hodge e Zola Taylor (essa em 1954), cantaram os doces romances de uma era cada vez mais distante.
Herb contava que a sua infância, em Kansas City, no Missouri, foi despendida em meio à mais absoluta pobreza: “"Eu tinha tanta fome que não conseguia pensar", disse certa feita em uma entrevista ao “Ed Sullivan Show”.
O santareno maestro Wilson Fonseca nos disse, na sua belíssima “Terra Querida”, que “recordar é sofrer mais”.
Se assim é, sofra aí com os “The Platters” em uma das suas mais belas canções, “Smoke gets in your eyes”.
